Companies / ProductsHere I list experiences with exceptionnally good or bad companies or products. Budget truck rental. Ames, IA, May 2008. Rented a 10' truck, got a 24' monster. Was overcharged by a factor 2 because the odometer magically recorded 42 miles on a 12 mile trip. An additional $50 charge appeared on my credit card a day later. Reason unknown. Jiffy Lube oil change - Fram oil filter - engine failure.2008-Jan. Oil change at Jiffy Lube at a surprising fee of $93 (Audi A6). Fram oil filter was installed. Oil filter failed after 1 week. Total engine failure. Engine needs to be replaced. Estimated cost: $10,000. As of 8 weeks later: No response from Fram (a Honeywell subsidiary). Their insurance does not return phone calls. Finally settled after 3.5 months and a major struggle. Honeywell's treatment of the consumer is appalling. |
