Pebbly BeachPebbly Beach is the "beach of the surfing Kangaroo." It is famous for wild Kangaroos coming to the beach. Drive to Pebbly Beach. The drive is supposed to take 3.5 hours. But it took us 5.5 hours (280km). The road is part of the Great Ocean Highway linking Sydney with Melbourne. Below is a lookout towards Woollongong.
A detour towards Mt Kiara lookout led us 15km off the main road. But the views were spectacular. Woollongong below.
We actually had been there before to visit Bob's sister. But on that day massive clouds blocked all views. Near Pebbly Beach, we stayed in the Ecolodge in Murramarang National Park. This is our "Beach Villa:"
Hiking through the twisted gum forest around the resort. Got lost big time...
Lots of totally empty beaches around our resort. Only in Oz...
This, finally is Pebbly Beach. Perhaps a dozen Kangaroos grazing.
Joey with mother.
Joey feeding. This went on for at least 10 minutes...
The rocky side of Pebbly Beach.
Kangaroos everywhere. This is a camp ground in the village of North Durras. Kangaroos in the yards, on the street, in the camp ground - just everywhere.
