Green Island

Green island is a tiny island sitting right on the Great Barrier Reef.

We flew into Cairns, which is a touristy Queensland towns of about 100,000, not nearly as nice as Port Douglas, though. Lots of high rise developments along the (muddy) ocean front.

These are pictures from the Cairns Marina.

This yacht was offered for rent. At $150,000 per week...

We took the catamaran from Cairns to the Island. 4 passengers on a boat that could hold 400.

The island is a tropical paradise. Beaches are empty after 4:30pm.

During the day, day trippers arrive from Cairns by the hundreds. Still, it's not too crowded, inspite of the next picture of the food court.

The island is shared with a local population consisting of rays (no pictures), sharks

and crocs (in a croc farm, fortunately).

Crocs competing for the warmth of the sun...

Not all crocs are still in the flesh.
